About

Through the captured imagery of light, photography allows us to hold fast to one fleeting, ever so precious, moment in time. Still photography tells the tale in elegant silence with unrivaled reproductions of that which surrounds us to the far reaches of the visual abstract.

I fell in love with photography while a musician in the Air Force. Within a year following my discharge, I joined the staff of the national publication Ebony Magazine. A fairy tale story for sure. Eight years with the Chicago Sun-Times followed and it all led up to Howard Simmons Photography.

I love my craft whether it’s peering down from an “L” platform and capturing a lady walking by in a red scarf at the right moment or reproducing the demands of an art director’s layout. It doesn’t get any better than that.
